Trinity IV, Saturday 30 June

Mass at Holy Rood at 6pm, preceded by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 5.30pm.

Celebrant and Preacher: Fr John Hunwicke; Music: The Newman Consort

Following the Mass, there will be a party to celebrate Fr Hunwicke’s Primiz in Oxford, to which all are welcome. In German-speaking countries, the useful word Primiz, from the Latin primitiae, ‘first-fruits’, is used to designate a newly-ordained priest’s first Mass in a given place or a specific church. A priest may have several Primizen – for instance, one in his Seminary chapel, one where he is assigned, one in his home parish, and so on. Saturday will be Fr Hunwicke’s Oxford Ordinariate Group Primiz, and we look forward to celebrating this joyful occasion.
