Lent Fridays We have for the last couple of years offered Mass in Latin on Fridays at 12.30pm. From the first Friday of Lent (20 February) the Form will change, but not the language: Mass will be celebrated according to the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite (also known as the Tridentine Mass or the Old Rite). This affords us an opportunity to be ‘deep in history’, as Bl John Henry Newman recommended, as well as the chance (from an Ordinariate perspective) to experience some of the patrimony into which we have entered, as well as that which we have brought. Other masses at Holy Rood remain in the Ordinary Form/Novus Ordo in English (or Portuguese!), or the Ordinariate Use on Thursday and Saturday evenings.
Solemn Evensong & Benediction Wednesday, 4 March at Blackfriars Priory Church, St Giles’, 7.30pm. Lenten Music sung by the Newman Consort.
All services and events take place (unless otherwise advertised) at Holy Rood Catholic Church, Abingdon Road, Oxford, by kind permission of the Parish Priest.
